Undergraduate International Program in Economics (UIPE)

1. Program Aim

Undergraduate International Program in Economics (UIPE) is an English-taught program with a duration of 4 years, aiming to nurture future leaders to make an impact on the world by empowering knowledge, charismatic leadership and global competitiveness in a diverse and dynamic global economy.

UIPE provides the student with a curriculum designed with the idea of gradually increasing depth in major education, liberal-art education throughout the four-year study, and rich oversea experiences. Literally, all students in this program are encouraged to study abroad for at least one semester. For students planning to go into industry and international organizations, interning during summer or fall semester is encouraged; for students planning to do PhD studies, more rigorous education on math and economic theory and recommendation to top PhD programs by directors will be offered.

①Advice on Interim Report/Industrial Practice：  

It is recommended that undergraduates in the program with an interest on further study can choose to complete the interim report to strengthen mathematics and economics theory education. Others with employment plans are advised to participate in industrial practice in overseas companies or international organizations around the world, with a focus on improving business-related skills.

② All the students are required to finish the thesis in English, and a Chinese abstract over 2,500 words will also be required.

Ⅳ. Multi-development path course

Multi-development path course includes different pathways such as taking Professional Advanced Courses, participating in Academic Minor Programs and other Courses. It is required to select one of the development paths under the guidance of the supervisor, and follow the guidance to take the courses.

1).Professional Advanced Courses (32 credits)

The undergraduates who finished the professional advanced courses can apply for the exam-free postgraduate recommendation from the School of Economics, and the completion of professional advanced courses shall lead to an award of the degree from Fudan University.

2) Honor Programs

3) Cross-disciplinary Programs

Students must complete a minimum of 36 academic credits. In order to fulfill the course requirements, students must take 2 course packages not opened independently by their own major.

Students who successfully complete and meet all the graduation requirements will receive a corresponding certificate. The students will receive a diploma in economics, a bachelor's degree certificate and a corresponding certificate upon graduation. They cannot apply for the exam-free postgraduate recommendation from School of Economics, and the School of Economics will not provide the students with any course rankings.

4) Academic Minor Programs

Students must take at least 15 credits of  professional advanced course and a academic minor program offered by other schools in Fudan University.
For the courses of the academic minor program, please refer to the academic website https://jwc.fudan.edu.cn/cywd_27275/list.htm. Students who successfully complete and meet all the graduation requirements will receive a corresponding academic minor certificate. The students will receive a diploma in economics, a bachelor's degree certificate and a academic minor certificate upon graduation. They cannot apply for the exam-free postgraduate recommendation from School of Economics, and the School of Economics will not provide the students with any course rankings.

5) Innovation and Entrepreneurship Programs

Students must complete a minimum of 36 academic credits. In order to fulfill the course requirements, students are required to complete an innovative and entrepreneurial course package offered by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute and a course package not opened independently by their own major.

Students who successfully complete all innovative and entrepreneurial courses will receive a diploma in economics and a bachelor's degree certificate upon graduation. They cannot apply for the exam-free postgraduate recommendation from School of Economics, and the School of Economics will not provide the students with any course rankings.

6) Double Degree Programs with foreign partner universities

The students who take the double degree program path are required to complete Basic Courses in General Discipline, General Education courses, Professional core courses, and a double degree program offered by a foreign partner university. The double degree program curriculum will be designated in accordance with the requirements in the collaboration agreement. Students who have completed the double-degree program and meet the requirements for graduation and degree awarding will receive a degree certificate from Fudan University and a degree certificate from a foreign partner university as well.

Other Notes

(1)Students must choose their course paths at the end of the 4th semester. Assessment corresponding to your selected path will be strictly given by graduation. For those who do not meet the requirements, the assessment will not be approved.

(2)The academic credits for both sharing courses of major and multi-development are calculated only once. Students who choose or change the path should be approved by the advisor.
